The objective of the Project is to improve transport efficiency on the trunk road network and accessibility in rural areas, which will contribute both to expansion of economic opportunities and poverty reduction. This objective will be achieved through
improving and shortening a major north-south highway (about 140km),
constructing feeder roads (about 100km),
enhancing the capacity of the Department of Roads (DOR) in capacity of road asset management and road safety audit, and
facilitating private sector participation in the domestic contracting industry
