The Project will rehabilitate about 3000 km of priority road links and assist the Government in reformulating and implementing road policies.
The objective of the proposed Project, which is formulated as a sector loan, is to assist the Government in (i) rehabilitating high priority links of its road network to facilitate economic recovery, and thus contribute to poverty reduction, and (ii) reformulating and implementing road traffic and transport policies and strategies. The Project will include the following components: (i) civil works on priority road links, for periodic maintenance, rehabilitation or replacement of bridges, and road betterment without land acquisition, and consulting services for selection, design and supervision of subprojects; (ii) consulting services for reviewing and monitoring road sector policy action plan, and reformulating and implementing policies; and (iii) consulting services and training for capacity building in road and bridge works
